FEBRUARY 14, 2015: Closing The Season

Unfortunately, there really wasn’t much to shoot this morning – neither Canon nor Beretta. This weekend is the final weekend of our “regular” waterfowl season – with dark geese being done tomorrow, February 15th. And it appears as if the season will go out in the same quiet fashion that it begun with.

Fortunately, we had a knock-out season – even if it was quite odd, and very up-and-down with the weather we had. While we shot record numbers on geese, and above average numbers on mallards, certain aspects of the season were very strange and birds were extremely tricky to pattern. Another season behind us, which is always kinda sad, but we have plenty of outdoor activities to immediately turn our attention to, in the form of crappie, turkey, and more immediately, a crack or two at conservation snows.

Not sure you’ll see much from me tomorrow, as the negative-degree wind-chills have the posse on hold unless I can get a good scout in the morning. We’ll see…

Hope your season was a “blast” – love to hear how you did – let me know at https://www.facebook.com/KansasOutdoorsman.
