Came across this and felt compelled to share. As much as I personally enjoy and appreciate this diverse natural resource, it’s not hard at all to want to hop on their bandwagon and support this organization.
River City Catfish Fry in Shawnee April 14, 2013
Do you love catfish? Join Friends of the Kaw for a lovely spring evening of bluegrass, delicious catfish, and libations (compliments of Boulevard Brewing Company!) While you are having a good time, you will also be supporting a great cause; protecting the Kansas (or Kaw) River!
When: Sunday, April 14 from 6 to 8:30pm
Where: Shawnee Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203
Suggested donation of $25 at the door OR $20 in advance – purchase tickets via “Donate” on the upper right corner of our home page (you will receive and email confirmation of your donation and your name will be on a list at the door the night of the event.) Kids (under 12) are free and we’ll serve them a hot dog dinner.

Friends of the Kaw is a 501 c 3, grassroots conservation organization whose mission is to protect and preserve the Kansas (Kaw) River for present and future generations. All proceeds will support the Kansas Riverkeeper – the eyes, ears and voice for the Kaw.
